How Leveling Works

You level up by doing quests and defeating enemies, moving to a new island as your level grows. Traditionally Sea 1 covers the early levels up to around 700, Sea 2 runs from about 700 to 1500, and Sea 3 covers everything above that until the level cap. Sea 1 was reworked in Update 30, so island layouts and quests changed; always follow the quest board in game for the exact ranges. See our Update 30 guide for what changed.

Grinding in Sea 1

Take the quest for the highest island your level allows and fight its enemies in groups. Use an easy fruit or fighting style, get your first sword and keep moving to the next island as soon as you can.

Grinding in Sea 2

Sea 2 is where fruit choice starts to matter. Pick quests with clusters of enemies, use area attacks and unlock upgrades as you go. This is a good time to switch to a stronger grinding fruit.

Grinding in Sea 3

Sea 3 is the longest stretch. Enemies hit harder, so sustain and area damage matter. The level cap is 2,800, and Update 30's Island Secrets can raise the ceiling to 3,000. Stay efficient, and take breaks between islands.
